SES now delivers almost 8,400 TV channels, according to its annual Satellite Monitor market research, the industry’s premier accounting of satellite’s TV reach, which underscores SES’s position as the leader in enabling content delivery via satellite directly and indirectly. This includes 3,130 in HD or UHD – to a total of 366 million TV homes worldwide, an increase of five million homes over the previous year. SES continues to outperform the industry with the highest number of TV homes reached and record-breaking number of channels delivered.

Check Point Research, a leading cyber threat intelligence service, has discovered a series of sophisticated cyberattacks targeting individuals in Libya. The attacks involve the use of a surveillance-focused malware called Stealth Soldier. The malware is designed to carry out various surveillance activities, including capturing files, recording screens and microphones, logging keystrokes, and stealing browser data. Researchers have identified an undocumented, custom modular backdoor in the malware, indicating that the attackers continuously update their tools. The most recent version of the malware is believed to have been distributed in February, while the oldest version was compiled in October of the previous year.

2Africa, the world's largest undersea cable, landed in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal, and is expected to be the catalyst to drive the region’s digital economy. The massive subsea cable, which will connect Africa, Europe and Asia, has already landed in some parts of the country, and KwaZulu-Natal became the latest shore to welcome the 2Africa cable.

Liquid Intelligent Technologies, a business of Cassava Technologies, has acquired a fibre pair on the Equiano subsea cable, Google’s privately funded submarine cable. This will allow the company to transport traffic up to 12 Terabits, bringing a much-needed increase in international connectivity in Western and Southern Africa.
