The Communications Authority (CA) of Kenya's Board of Directors has appointed David Mugonyi as the new Director General, effective January 15, 2024. CA Board Chairperson Mary Mungai highlighted Mugonyi's extensive 23-year career in public service, media, and strategic communications, emphasizing his qualifications, including a Master's Degree in International Journalism and a Bachelor's Degree in Education.

ESCWA organized a workshop on building trust in digital government services in collaboration with the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Union (AICTU), the Internet Society and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The workshop took place over two days, on September 11 and 12, 2023. The opening session on the first day was attended by Rola Dashti, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCWA; Engineer Mohamed Ben Omar, the Director-General of the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organization; and Dr. Najla El Riachi, the Minister of Administrative Development in Lebanon.

Clickatell, the CPaaS innovator and chat commerce leader, revealed the results of its latest Chat Commerce Trends Report: Travel Edition, which uncovers new insights about how today’s consumers want to communicate and make purchases with hotels, airlines and rental car companies in mobile messaging conversations. The survey, which fielded responses from over 1,000 US participants, found 87% of consumers prefer to use mobile messaging to communicate with travel companies.
