The Regulatory Authority of Mauritania (ARE) has issued a call for tenders to award a new operator a global license (2G / 3G / 4G).

With the step, the Mauritanian authorities aims to address the poor quality of services offered by existing mobile operators: Mauritel, Mattel and Chinguitel by offering an alternative solution to the consumers.

However to play fair, just like the new operator, all existing mobile operators will have the opportunity to offer 4G services to the population.

When launching the call for tenders to award a global license, the telecoms regulator has also issued a call for tenders for the award of a 4G license for operators already holding 2G/3G licenses.

According to the ARE, the deadline for service providers to submit their offers is December 5, 2018.
