The Ethiopian Parliamentary Standing Committee on Democratic Affairs, alongside Ethiopian Communications Authority Director General Eng. Balcha Reba, recently visited Ethio Telecom to evaluate its progress in digital transformation and sectoral AI integration.
Chaired by His Excellency Mr. Truth Alene, the committee was welcomed by Ethio Telecom’s CEO, Freilife Tamru, and senior company leaders. During the visit, Ethio Telecom showcased its initiatives to expand infrastructure, enhance service quality, and promote inclusive telecom and digital services across key sectors such as agriculture, education, health, industry, mining, transport, and tourism through advanced AI technologies.
The discussion also addressed challenges such as limited access to infrastructure expansion space and the disproportionate costs of infrastructure protection. Ethio Telecom requested support in addressing these issues.
The committee commended the company for its achievements in driving digital transformation and its commitment to innovation and inclusivity.
