Ethio Telecom has launched a state-of-the-art ultra-fast EV charging station along Bole-Megenagna Road in Addis Ababa, reinforcing its position as a digital solutions leader under the slogan: “Bringing New Possibilities.”
As Ethiopia’s EV adoption accelerates, the station is designed to meet the growing demand for fast and efficient charging. It features three charging modes and can accommodate up to 32 vehicles simultaneously. The AI-powered smart chargers optimize power delivery based on battery requirements, enabling speeds of 1 km per second.
The station includes eight ultra-fast chargers (600 kW) capable of fully charging vehicles in just 15 minutes, along with 12 super-fast chargers (500 kW) for quick and efficient recharges. Additionally, smart pole chargers integrated into the city’s infrastructure provide emergency charging options.
Operating 24/7, the station is fully powered by telebirr SuperApp, allowing customers to make cashless transactions easily. Drivers can independently manage their charging sessions, while real-time monitoring ensures uninterrupted connectivity via fiber, 4G, or 5G networks.
This initiative highlights Ethio Telecom’s commitment to sustainable mobility and digital transformation, supporting Ethiopia’s transition to a smart and green future.
