Africell Angola, a telecommunications operator, has begun the expansion of its network coverage into the Huíla Province, located in the southeastern part of the country. The company's commercial director, Mário Mateus, stated that while Africell's network is currently accessible solely in Lubango and Humpata cities, efforts are underway to establish a more permanent presence by enhancing infrastructure. The objective is to extend network coverage and services to other regions within the province.

The expansion into Huíla Province aligns with Africell Angola's strategy of gradually broadening its network reach. The telecom operator introduced its services in Angola in April 2022 and has already established operations in Luanda, Kwanza Sul and Benguela provinces. The company aims to extend its services to Huambo and Namibe provinces before the year concludes. Additionally, plans are in place to introduce coverage to Cabinda and Soyo (Zaire) in the first quarter of 2024. The ultimate goal is to achieve nationwide coverage by 2025.

This expansion initiative allows Africell to connect with a larger base of subscribers, thereby increasing its market share. As of December 31, 2022, the company had accumulated six million subscribers and held a market share of 25%, as per statistics from Angola's National Institute of Communications (INACOM).
