Following its participation in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), Huawei, leading global provider of ICT infrastructure and smart devices, announced that it is going to build a regional logistics center in Morocco.

The infrastructure will be located in Tanger Med, known as an international logistics hub. It is connected to over 180 ports in the world, thus covering markets in Morocco’s neighboring countries. Once operational, the regional center will provide Huawei some advantages over its competitors such as quickly sending its products to countries near Morocco.

During the Forum, and in the presence of Morocco’s PM, Saad Eddine El Othmani, Peng Zhongyang, vice president of Huawei, expressed the company’s interest in building such a center in Morocco due to its exceptional geographical location, high political stability, very rich cultural diversity and favorable environment for business. Afterwards, Zhongyang presented the company’s activities in Morocco, its investments in the free zone of the port of Tangier and its investment in local staff.

Huawei also promised to share its expertise and global experience in cutting-edge technologies with the Moroccan institutions with the aim of supporting the Morocco Digital 2020 strategy and promoting the digital transformation of the country.
