Airtel Uganda, in partnership with ZTE Nubia, has introduced a new range of affordable smartphones to the Ugandan market, launching the ZTE Nubia series during an event at Protea Hotel. The devices include a free 15GB Airtel Uganda data bundle valid for three months, making cutting-edge technology more accessible to a wider audience.
“This collaboration reinforces our commitment to delivering high-quality, affordable smartphones designed to empower Ugandans,” said Michael Xue, CEO of ZTE Uganda Limited. He emphasized ZTE’s dedication to innovative solutions that enhance lives.
Nyombi Tembo, Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission, highlighted the critical role of accessible technology in transforming lives. “Advancements in ICT must reach more people to create meaningful impact,” he stated, pledging regulatory support to make smartphones affordable for all SIM card holders.
Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, praised the initiative for empowering young Ugandans, noting its potential to transform lives.
Ali Balunywa, Airtel Uganda’s Sales and Distribution Director for Core Market, emphasized Airtel’s role in enabling such innovations. “Airtel’s reliable internet ensures users can fully experience the advanced features of devices like the Nubia,” he said, reaffirming the company’s commitment to affordable connectivity.
The launch concluded with lively performances by Ugandan artists David Lutalo and Laika Music, celebrating a milestone in Uganda’s smartphone market by combining affordability, cutting-edge features, and improved connectivity.
