The utilization of FTTH has witnessed a remarkable surge, escalating from approximately 53,000 users in early 2020 to an impressive 1 million by the commencement of November 2023. This upswing in FTTH adoption has been accompanied by noteworthy enhancements in subscriber speeds, reaching up to 300 Mbps, coupled with a revision of pricing structures to accommodate higher speeds.
Moreover, to promote the uptake of Algérie Télécom’s innovative offerings and facilitate the integration of advanced technology, extensive communication campaigns have been undertaken, particularly targeting residents in newly developed cities.
FTTH deployment serves dual purposes: connecting new users, especially in emerging urban areas, and modernizing existing access networks by transitioning customers from outdated xDSL technology to FTTH. Emphasizing the advantages of FTTH, it is important to note that this wired telecommunications network ensures high-speed internet access by extending optical fiber directly to homes. It offers improved quality, minimal latency, reduced interruptions, and enhanced resilience against electromagnetic interference.
Reflecting on these developments, the total number of households connected to the landline internet network surpassed 5.4 million by November 2023. This achievement can be attributed not only to the substantial increase in international bandwidth capacity but also to the unwavering commitment and determination of the sector's professionals dedicated to consistently elevating the quality of internet connectivity provided to the public.
