The EllaLink international submarine cable in Praia, Cape Verde, went live. This event comes as the culmination of a project that was born in 2018, when Cape Verde Telecom and EllaLink announced the signature of the contract of agreement to deliver connectivity from Europe and Latin America to Cape Verde. This partnership between Cabo Verde Telecoms and EllaLink has received the support of the European Bank of Investments and the local Government of Cape Verde.

Smile Group is a pan-African telecoms group that operates in Tanzania, Nigeria, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Airtel Africa has acquired an additional spectrum to bolster its service delivery in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Airtel Africa paid 42 million U.S. dollars for the 58 Megahertz (MHz) spectrum which will spread across 900, 1800, 2100, and 2600 MHz bands.

IHS Holding Limited, one of the largest independent owners, operators, and developers of shared communications infrastructure in the world by tower count has completed the acquisition of 5,701 towers in South Africa from Mobile Telephone Networks Proprietary Limited (MTN), one of the leading mobile telecommunications operators in South Africa. Under the agreement, IHS Towers is also providing power management services to MTN SA on approximately 13,000 sites, including the acquisition portfolio, across South Africa.
