At the launch event, Mohale Ralebitso, CEO of Vodacom Lesotho, highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting the SME sector.

"We are extremely proud to introduce SME Connect, a product that reflects our strong commitment to Lesotho’s vibrant SME ecosystem,” said Ralebitso. “Our goal is to empower every business, regardless of size, with the digital tools they need to succeed—from accessible devices and online platforms to global exposure, complete with pricing and secure, cashless transaction options. We are committed to digitizing Lesotho’s economy, paving the way for a prosperous and self-sustaining future."

Lisemelo Ramafikeng, Executive Head of Vodacom Business, emphasized the company’s role in driving SME growth.

"Our ambition is to be a catalyst for growth, helping SMEs evolve into larger enterprises,” said RAmafikeng. “We firmly believe that digital solutions are the key to unlocking their potential. In today’s globalized economy, international investors are looking for local SMEs with strong digital capabilities, including professional websites and other essential online tools."

Lemphane L. from Basotho Enterprises Development Corporation (BEDCO) also emphasized the importance of digitizing SMEs, stating, "SMEs are the backbone of Lesotho’s economy, significantly contributing to employment and overall growth. Digitisation is no longer optional; it’s crucial for SMEs to compete, improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer experiences."

Palesa Matobako, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Business Development, affirmed the government's support for the initiative.

"Vodacom’s SME Connect is fully aligned with the government’s priorities for SME growth, reinforcing our shared commitment to positioning SMEs at the heart of Lesotho’s economic transformation," said Matobako.

SME Connect offers two packages—Access Suite and the Managed Access Suite with advanced features. These packages directly addresse key challenges faced by SMEs in Lesotho, such as limited access to affordable, integrated business tools. By providing bundled services at significantly reduced rates, it democratizes access to enterprise-level solutions that were once out of reach for many SMEs.
